For more than seven years, Judge Amy Tarno has served as the presiding judge of the Precinct 2 Justice Court, bringing 25 years of experience in the court system to the bench. She is committed to running a court that is fair, accessible, and efficient while respecting taxpayers and the people it serves.

Since taking office in 2019, Judge Amy Tarno has worked to improve the administration of justice in Kaufman County while contributing her experience to courts across Texas.
2020
Texas Supreme Court Eviction Task Force
Served on the Texas Supreme Court Eviction Task Force, helping justice courts across Texas navigate complex issues during the pandemic while preserving order and public confidence in the court system.
2022
Texas Justice Court Training Center Faculty
In 2022, Judge Tarno joined the Texas Justice Court Training Center as a faculty member to teach justice court judges and clerks across the State of Texas.
2025
Texas Supreme Court Eviction Rules Task Force
In 2025, Judge Tarno was appointed by the Texas Supreme Court to serve on the Eviction Rules Task Force.

Forney Education Foundation
Judge Tarno currently serves as President of the Forney Education Foundation. She previously served as Vice President of Programs and has served on the board since 2022.
INVESTING IN YOUTH
Mentorship for Kaufman County Youth
In 2025, Judge Tarno’s court received a grant from the Governor’s Office to start a mentorship program for the youth of Kaufman County.
